Ukrainas frontē izmēģina krāsniņas no Latvijas

Latvian volunteers make wood-gas stoves for Ukraine

Take note – story published 1 year ago

The volunteer battalion “Carpathian Sich” and other units on the Ukrainian front have started testing the wood-gas stoves made by volunteers in Latvia, which have been given the name "Freedom Flame". The idea of the stove itself is not new, but volunteers in Latvia have come up with the idea that they could be useful for Ukrainians, Latvian Television reported on January 11.

The idea that the soldiers on the front would make good use of such stoves occurred to Kārlis Cerbulis from Sēja. The oven has a double wall, smoke gases are burned and the flame is clean.

Cerbulis, author of the idea of Freedom Flame, said: “The air comes from below to burn well, and the air comes hot along the edges, and comes to where the smoke gases are formed. It's called double burning, that's the principle. "

Such tourism cookers cost a hundred and more. Cerbulis watched a tutorial and together with neighbors make the stoves. In parallel, they try to understand how to produce them industrially as well.

Cerbulis stated: “It's heavier, we have a thinner metal. But it can be produced more quickly. If there is demand in hundreds and thousands, then this is the path to go."

The first stoves are already on the front, another 50 different-size cookers will be transported to Ukraine over the weekend.

Dry sticks are needed to fire the stove. It could be a big problem in humid conditions, but candles also work.

These cookers are also fit for civilians whose houses are shattered. Many are warming heat cooking on fires. With a cooker, in about nine minutes, a pot of water boils and it's possible to make both tea and soup.

Cerbulis said: “This is a continuation of Latvia's independence struggle. Ukrainians are fighting for us. We're one. We must not lose!"

If there is demand on the front, Cerbulis is looking forward to meeting entrepreneurs and look at production at self-cost.
