The average amount of money that a person living in Latvia needs to fulfill all one’s dreams is €3,294 a month, according to the poll conducted by SKDS pollster.

The amount is 19% more than in a 2014 asking the same question. Last year, Latvians would have made do with €2,769 a month, so their appetites seem to be growing.

The average monthly wage in Latvia was €606 after tax on June 2015, according to the Central Statistics Bureau.

Before the onset of the financial and economic crisis in 2008, the amount was €2,434 and kept declining with every year until 2012.

In 2012, a monthly income of €1,970 would have been enough for the respondents to fulfill their dreams.

This poll is conducted each year by the SKDS pollster. It encompasses 750 to 850 people.

For some perspective, one journalist calculated the cost of the American dream for USA Today, putting it at $130,000 (€115,100) a year or €9,591 a month for a family.
