Based on data from 2018, it seems Latvians are less satisfied with life than the European Union average. EU citizens give their level of life satisfaction a 7.3 out of 10. Latvians give it 6.7, but do at least manage to be a bit more upbeat than Bulgarians, who record the lowest level of life satisfaction on 5.4.
In contrast the Irish and Finnish are very satisfied with themselves, with both gaining an 8.1 score.
Breaking down the Latvian data, just 15.3% of Latvians say they are highly satisfied with life, 58.3% give life a medium rating and 26.4% say they are low.
Compared to the other Baltic states it will come as no surprise that, as is often the case, Latvia lies between the other two. The upbeat Estonians give themselves a 7.0 score and the Lithuanians a downbeat 6.4.
