Kononovs has handed in his resignation to the Transport Ministry. Tuesday will be his last day at work.
According to LAU, Kononovs has decided to resign for personal reasons. He was appointed the head of the company in November 2011, and his second term in office would have expired this November.
An acting leader will be appointed for LAU by the company's supervisory board in the near future, and candidates will be invited to apply for the vacant post.
The company's board is comprised of Guntis Karps, Anastasija Udalova, and Oskars Zemitis.
Latvijas Autocelu Uzturetajs was created in June 2006 by merging state joint-stock company Centrala Regiona Celi with Latgales Celi, Kurzemes Celi, and Vidzemes Celi road maintenance companies. The company performs daily maintenance work on state highways, road construction and repair within the entire Latvian territory, as well as produces construction materials.
