Poet and notable translator Uldis Bērziņš was named the recipient of the Latvian Literature Award for Lifetime Achievement. While an equivalent award for achievement in literary criticism was handed to Anita Rožkalne.

The choice of the people at the LALIGABA jury has been criticized, most notably by Artis Ostups, poet and editor at punctummagazine.lv.
"Don't you find it odd that the LALIGABA committee has no one who has, within the last fifteen years, proven their understanding of the history of poetry and the specifics of the genre?" he mused on Facebook as early as November.
