Last week, LSM reported the strange case of a post-mortem mix-up that resulted in a family being supplied with the wrong body at the funeral of their dearly departed.

Happily, things have finally been put right, reported LTV January 8.

Santija Biezā, the daughter of the deceased Elza Biezā, confirmed that her mother had at last been found and buried, resolving the week-long drama during which the family of the dead woman tried to find out where she was, because a strange woman dressed in her mother's clothes was brought to the chapel for burial. It was found out that the morgue employees mixed up two dead bodies

It turned out that the correct body had already been buried, so on Friday, an exhumation was carried out and the daughters immediately recognized their mother, who had been buried under the identity of another person in one of Riga's cemeteries, so that on Saturday, the family could finally say goodbye to their mother properly.

Daughter Santija Bieză said: "Our mother is now resting in peace. Thank you to everyone who sympathized with us and helped us search and find my mother".

The police, on the other hand, are investigating the morgue employees for negligence, for which both fines and even a custodial sentence are possible. The hospital involved in the case has promised to compensate the family for the reburial expenses.
