Map: Local population changes 2012-2016

Many of Latvia's municipalities, except those around Riga, have seen their population drop from 2012 to 2016, according to data by the Central Statistics Office.

Out of 119 municipalities and cities, the population grew in just 13.

At the top, the population grew a little over 17% in Mārupe but on the flip side shrank 13.33% in the Strenči municipality.

Regions near the capital Rīga were the only ones to record population growth.
