Number of pirate TV service connections decreasing

According to research on television piracy, the number of pirated TV service connections decreased 23% in 2017 over 2016.

That's what Dace Kotzeva, the head of the For Legal Content! association told LTV April 25. Two years ago, it was estimated about 100,000 households used illegal TV at home, while 2017 research says the number has decreased by about 20,000, meaning about 56,000 fewer people watch non-licensed TV.

A total 19 criminal cases, 563 administrative checks and 61 administrative reports were started in 2016, and two illegal film streaming websites were closed a month ago, said Kotzeva.

"I'd say we're heading in the right direction," she said.
