On Wednesday 161 traffic accidents were recorded on Latvia's roads with 26 people injured. This is from two to three times as much over the number recorded on each of the preceding days, reported LSM.
Five pedestrians and cyclists were among the people injured.
There was also an accident involving a police car, in Sigulda.
A total of 425 tickets, including 52 for speeding, were issued by the police. In addition, two drunk drivers were caught on Latvia's roads.
