Officials offer condolences to Russia and Romania

President Raimonds Vejonis, Riga mayor Nils Ušakovs and Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics on Saturday offered condolences to Russia and Romania for tragic incidents involving large scale loss of life.

Vejonis said his thoughts were with the friends and families of Russians killed after the crash of an airliner bound from Egypt to St Petersburg in the Sinai desert killing 224 people

Ušakovs said he too sent his condolences to St Petersburg residents and all Russian people.

Earlier, Rinkevics said he conveyed deepest condolences to Romania over a nightclub fire in Bucharest on October 30 that resulted in at least 27 deaths.
