There's a common perception that people in Latvia are apathetic when it comes to politics, but the situation seems to be changing for the better. A survey by the SKDS company states that 21% inhabitants of Latvia think that they have a say on the workings of Saeima and the government.

The question asked was, "People like you don't have any say in what the Latvian Saeima [Parliament] and government do."

9% said that they disagree totally, while 12% mostly disagree. The was majority - 27% and 46% - disagrees partially or completely, though.

This tendency is improving year by year. In 2013 16% thought that they have a say in what officials do, while in 2014 the number was 18%.
