Photos: Rīga lights up Christmas trees for holiday season

Take note – story published 2 years ago

Awaiting the winter holiday season, Rīga has put on its festive gear and lit up Christmas lights throughout the capital.

Three main trees are located in Doma Square, Rātslaukums Square and the 11. novembra krastmala embankment.

Sixteen other trees will be set up by the municipality in neighborhoods and the residents themselves will be responsible for the decorations. Twenty-two more trees will be lit near cultural venues, in parks and squares of Rīga.

If you'd like to read the rules about taking Christmas trees from State Forests, you can do so in this story, while for more on the perennial rivalry between Rīga and Tallinn for spruce supremacy, there's this feature from the archive.
