The yield forecast is 2.579m tonnes, which is about 362,000 tonnes or 16% more than in 2014.
Almost half of the harvest is made up by winter wheat, while summer wheat accounts for about a quarter of the yield.
Rapeseed is popular this year as well, as the harvest forecast is 36% more than in 2014.
The Ministry of Agriculture announced that both in Latvia and in the EU there's a decrease in the prices of these cultures, as the whole of the EU will see a good harvest.
The ministry also stressed that grain is one of Latvia's chief exports, even though in the first half of 2015 the total grain exports have shrunk by 30% in comparison with the same period last year.
