Russian craft keep nearing airspace and sea lines

Both National Armed Forces (NBS) sea patrol boats and NATO Baltic Air Police (BAP) jet pilots went out (or up, as the case may be) to meet and monitor Russian military craft nearing Latvia’s internationally recognized national boundaries Thursday and Friday, reported the NBS in its Twitter feed.

On Friday the NBS tweeted of the scramble to intercept another Ilyushin IL-20 reconnaissance plane of the Russian air force by two of the BAP F-16 fighters stationed in Siauliai, Lithuania.

On Thursday a prior tweet had informed of another Russian navy submarine support vessel sighted 19 nautical miles off of Latvia’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), the ship being identified as a salvage-type Kashtan-class SS-750.
