Firefighters, including a helicopter, and specialists from the Nature Conservation Agency are at the scene battling the blaze.

Meanwhile in the Valdgale district of the Kurzeme region, firefighters continue to contain a week-old blaze. But with temperatures expected to top +30 Celsius Saturday and warm winds blowing, fire crews look like they will have another busy weekend.

The public is urged to take extreme care when visiting nature trails and the wilderness and not to use naked flames with the surrounding countryside tinder-dry.
