The State Security Service is looking into reports that Australian citizen Brenton Tarrant, who carried out attacks on two Mosques in New Zealand's Christchurch this past March, may have visited Latvia, the Security Service told LETA.

"The Security Service has received information about said person's possible visit to Latvia in the past. The service is looking into the report and will not comment on the matter for the time being," said the Security Service.

Tarrant, a right-wing extremist who killed 50 people in attacks on two mosques this past March, had published a 74-page manifesto before the shootings

Estonian portal postimees.ee recently reported that Tarrant visited Estonia and Latvia last December. Tarrant has also mentioned Estonia in his manifesto.

Austrian Interior Ministry and Estonian police have confirmed that Tarrant arrived in Estonia from Austria on December 4. He rented an automobile in Estonia to visit Latvia a day later. He stayed in Latvia for two days, then returned to Estonia, from which he once again traveled to Latvia, that time by bus.

According to Postimees, Tarrant spent about a week in the Baltics.

Media also reported that, two days before the terror attacks, Tarrant shared a video about the Song Festival in Latvia on his Facebook account.
