Under the watchful eye of police, the gathering briefly mustered enough energy to chant "Immigants - No!" half a dozen times, but generally contented themselves with displaying placards familiar from two previous demonstrations.
Most expressed the opinion that they were against immigration in principle rather than simply against proposed European Union quotas, though those also came under fire.
Others called for the government to resign.
As darkness fell, after a brief rendition of the national anthem, the crowd went home.
