All participants in the protest had face masks. People carried posters “Social Workers, Trust, Help for Others”, “Petraviča [Welfare Minister], don't stand against us, stand for us” and “System or Humanity.”
Representatives of the social support and education fund (SAIF) who had come to the picket explained to LETA that they had arrived because they were worried about “many ongoing and unfinished reforms that affect work on a daily basis”. They also expressed concern about tax reforms.
SAIF's representatives expressed their displeasure with the work of the Minister for Welfare, Ramona Petraviča ('KPV LV') and the Ministry, communication and attitudes towards social workers. The participants also pointed out that they did not see progress in their sector and faced various difficulties, including excessive bureaucracy in dealing with public authorities.
The ministry also received a written opinion from the meeting participants and agreed that it would be evaluated in the near future and reviewed at a joint negotiating table.
