Since 2008, there has been a 20 percent increase in the number of persons who have a positive view towards the EU in Latvia, reaching 63 percent this year, according to a survey by SKDS pollster.

In 2008, only 42 percent of Latvian residents viewed the EU in a positive light.

Meanwhile, the number of Latvian residents who have a positive attitude towards Russia is 46 percent, which is the lowest since 2008, when 41 percent of Latvian resident had a positive view of Russia.

The largest number of Latvian residents who had a positive view towards Russia was in 2010 - 64 percent.

Perhaps surprisingly opinion on the United States is evenly split, with 44 percent of Latvian residents having a positive view towards the US this year, while 43 percent have a negative view.
