Vējonis said that currently no candidate has a sizable majority in parliament to back them, and therefore he will resume consultations with parties on November 26.
It was expected that Vējonis would name either Artis Pabriks (Development/For!), or Aldis Gobzems (KPV LV) as the next PM candidates.
This comes after three parties left government talks lead by the New Conservative Party candidate Jānis Bordāns, preventing him from becoming Latvia's new Prime Minister.
Vējonis November 20 meeting with the parties lasted for 40 minutes. Neither Gobzems, nor Pabriks were present.
The president reportedly told the parties that he is not planning on calling an extraordinary election.
The new Latvian parliament is fragmented, with Harmony winning 23 seats (though no other party in the Saeima want to cooperate with them) in the 13th Saeima election and Development/For! scoring 13 seats, the same as National Alliance. The Greens and Farmers Union won 11 seats and the New Unity won 8.
KPV LV and the New Conservative Party won 16 seats each.
