A new survey reveals the Midsummer (Līgo/Jāņi) plans of Latvia's population.

Asked where they planned to spend the Midsummer holidays by the Gemius online market research company, 25% of respondents said they would be Līgo-ing at their place in the country, a grumpy 16% said they would not celebrate it at all, 13% will be celebrating at home in the city and another 13% will be celebrating with friends.

A further 10% have yet to decide what they will be doing and 6% are the hardcore contingent who will be spending Midsummer in nature. 3% will be out of the country, 2% will unfortunately be working, and similar numbers said they intended to spend the holidays with friends in the city, or at public events in both town and country. An intriguing 1% said they had "other plans" not included in the aforementioned categories.

The survey was based on the responses of 3,910 Latvian Internet users and conducted with the help of pop-up Internet questionnaires, which were shown to randomly selected Internet users from 16 to 18 June.
