On Saturday night and morning, north-west wind gusts will reach 25-28 meters per second (m/s) along the coast, with isolated gusts around 30 m/s possible; 20-24 m/s in the rest of the country. Winds will start to die down on Saturday afternoon. Rain is expected at times, with wet snow in places. In western Vidzeme, including Riga and its surroundings, precipitation will be heavy at times. Air temperatures will reach +3 C to +8 C on Saturday.
A strong wind warning is in force until Saturday evening.
On Sunday night, winds will become gusty, but during the day they will turn from the southwest and start to pick up again, gusting to around 20 m/s along the coast in the evening. Overnight, the minimum temperature will be -2 C to +3 C, with a low of +4 C to +6 C at the coast, while warmer air will flow into Latvia during the day, with temperatures reaching +6 C to +11 C on Sunday midday and +3 C to +5 C in the east of the country.
On Monday and Tuesday, the weather will remain windy, especially on Monday night, when north-westerly winds will be around 25 m/s off the coast, but a large anticyclone will strengthen in our region, bringing calmer weather with slower winds and mostly no precipitation.
Air temperatures will also remain above the climatic norm for early November. From mid-next week until at least mid-November, air temperatures will mostly be in the 6-13-degree range in the afternoons and just above freezing at night.
