October snow unlikely this year in Latvia

The first snow is common in October, but unlikely this month, according to forecasts.

The weather will be mostly cloudy on Tuesday and light rain is expected in many places. Temperatures will be +1 C to +6 C at night, up to +9 C on the coast, and +9 C to +12 C in the afternoon.

From Wednesday, a broad anticyclone will dominate the weather in our region, so the rest of the week will be mostly sunny, with no precipitation expected. Nights will be cold and frosts are expected, but afternoons will be warm at +9 C to +14 C.

Longer-term forecasts show that temperatures will be mostly above normal in the second half of October, with little chance of rapidly cooling weather and snow.

In the first half of October, the average temperature in Latvia was around 8.5 degrees, which is close to the climatic norm. In the second half of the month, the average temperature throughout October will be slightly above the climatic norm. This year, January was the only month when average temperatures were below the climatic norm.
