Warm long weekend ahead in Latvia

The weather in Latvia will be warm over the long holiday weekend, but then turn colder, according to forecasts.

Saturday and Sunday will be windy, with south-westerly, westerly winds gusting up to 10-15 meters per second, sometimes around 20 meters per second on the coast.

The highest temperatures are expected on Saturday when they will reach +7 C to +11 C. In some parts of Latvia, it will be the warmest November 16 in the history of meteorological observations. The national record for November 16 was in 1939 at 12.2 C in Skulte, Limbaži municipality.

On Sunday, the temperature will be in the range of +4 C to +9 C both night and day, and on November 18  it will be a degree cooler - around +2 C to +7 C.

Rain is expected at times throughout the day, but on November 18 the wind will slow down and come from the north-west.

Temperatures will tend to drop in the week after Independence Day, with rain and wet snow at times. A light layer of snow is likely in many places in the second half of the week.
