Cooler weather expected mid-next week in Latvia

No major changes in the weather are expected in the coming days, but it will get colder for a few days in the middle of next week, according to forecasts.

Most of the sky will be cloudy at the weekend, with only a few sunny spells.

Air temperatures will be around zero at night in most of the country, warmer in western Kurzeme, and +1 to +6 degrees in the afternoons, up to +7 C to +8 C on Saturday in Kurzeme and central parts of the country.

No significant precipitation is expected over the weekend, but south-westerly winds will pick up, gusting to 15-19 meters per second along the coast.

Similar weather conditions will continue on Monday and Tuesday, but it will get colder as of Wednesday. Frost is expected at night across the country, and daytime temperatures will remain slightly below freezing in most parts of Latvia. Current forecasts suggest that temperatures will drop to -7 to -2 degrees at night in the second half of the week, with a light snow cover in places, but little snow overall. The frost is unlikely to be long-lasting and persistent.
