Flights cancelled, delayed and diverted
According to the Riga International Airport website, a number of incoming and outgoing flights have been cancelled with some diverted after not being able to land.
Delays and service interruptions can be expected throughout the rest of the day, airport representative Laura Karnīta told Latvian Radio.

Traffic disruptions across the country

Driving conditions are bad, especially in Riga where several accidents accompanied by heavy snowfall have left some streets virtually undrivable.
Residents are advised to opt for using public transportation instead of driving. Motorists in Rīga can use public transportation for free if they carry their vehicle registration certificate with them.
