Chilly start to a mainly pleasant summer week

Take note – story published 4 years ago

Early in the morning, temperatures in Kurzeme and Vidzeme regions dropped to between +3 Celsius and +5 C, making it the coldest August 5 morning on record, according to information from the Latvian Center for Environment, Geology and Meteorology.

However, the chill is quickly disappearing and a pleasant day is expected without rain and with slow to moderate westerly winds.

The temperature will climb to between +17 C and + 21 C, and the pleasant weather is expected to remain in place for most of the working week.

Current forecasts show that by Wednesday, daytime temperatures will be close to +25 C, though daily rain showers and thunderstorms should not come as a surprise, too. Night-time temperatures will not plunge again, remaining in the region of +11 C to +16 C.
