Adding to the five high temperature records registered throughout December, on December 25 - Christmas day - the new Latvian temperature record for this date was set at +9 degrees in Kurzeme. However, keep your socks and coats warm for New Year's as it's bound to hit ten below.

Starting with December 27 the temperatures will become freezing, and on New Year's Eve the temperature can hit -15 degrees, according to Global Forecast System data.

Perhaps snow will start falling on December 27 and on the night to Monday, but there's a chance Latvia will see little to no precipitation as the year concludes. However it is at least expected to be sunny.

The freeze won't reach below -4 degrees on Sunday, and -8 at night; New Year's Eve will perhaps see temperatures of -9..-15 degrees.

Due to the warm weather, mushrooms are showing up in forests and spring flowers are in places blooming well before time.
