Cold and snowy week ahead

This week is forecast to be snowy in Latvia with blizzards in store and the snow cover growing slowly over the country, reports LSM's Latvian-language service.

Temperatures are expected to drop to -6..-10C on the night to Tuesday and -2..-3C during daytime in the coastal and down to -7..-8C in the eastern regions. 

Blustery winds at the seaside are expected with gusts of 20 meters per second in western Latvia. Dress warmly!

The weather will be sunny on Tuesday but a small snowstorm is to hit Kurzeme on the night to Wednesday. 

Wednesday is to be snowy with slight blizzards, with the snow cover growing 3 to 5 cm and temperatures increasing to -5..0C 

The latter half of the week is to be snowy, especially Friday, with temperatures however projected to rise, perhaps reaching over 0C in the western and central regions of the country.
