This week will be dry with close to freezing temperatures in the mornings but relatively warm daytime temperatures.

It will be dry until Saturday with temperatures around 0..+5C at night - dipping to -2C locally - and up to +10..+15C during the day. The coastal regions might see slightly lower temperatures.

From Sunday the weather will become cooler again with daytime temperatures not exceeding +10C and rain and wet snow in the forecast.

Preliminary data suggest that this April had been the coldest within the last 14 years. The average temperature, around +4C, was 1.7 degrees below the climate norm.

The coldest day last month was April 18 when it was -8.7C in Zosēni.

It was also snowy with a 10 cm thick blanket of snow observed near Rīga on April 17.
