Daugavpils sees first snow fall

Take note – story published 7 years ago

On Friday morning the first snow fell over Latvia near Daugavpils, Latvia's second-largest city. However there was not enough of it to blanket the earth.

Some snow fell over Lithuania and Belarus too.

While some precipitation is forecast for the next following days, including possible snow, there is expected to be little of it.

Last year the first snow was on October 8 in Alūksne, Gulbene and Rēzekne. While in 2014 the first snow fell on October 17.

During warmer autumns the first snow can appear in November, or as late as December in the coastal regions.

Here's a map (Image source: meteo.lv) that shows when snow has fallen the earliest on Latvia.
