Even warmer Wednesday awaits in western Kurzeme

Take note – story published 2 years ago

Tuesday has already proven to be something of a scorcher in Latvia with air temperatures of up to + 27 Celsius recorded on the Kurzeme coast, and according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center Wednesday could be warmer still.

The sky will remain mostly clear overnight into Wednesday, no precipitation is expected. At night, a slow southeast wind will blow, but during the day gusts will reach 9-14 meters per second.

On Wednesday the air temperature will warm up to +21 C to + 26 C in many places degrees, with western Kurzeme again going one better with the thermometer likely to hit to +27 C or even + 28 C. However, it will be considerably cooler in the Kurzeme part of the Gulf of Riga at +14 C to + 19 C.

Rīga will be sunny with temperatures of +25 C or + 26 C in which to bask contentedly.

It is possible that local heat records will be set in some places. However, the national maximum temperature for May 12, 1996, when +30 Celsius was recorded, is unlikely to be bettered.
