First snow covers ground in north and east of Latvia

On Wednesday morning, the first snow has fallen in Vidzeme and Latgale, according to reports from residents on social networks.

The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center's observational stations in Vidzeme have also recorded snow. The layer is very thin, though.

Air temperatures this morning in Vidzeme and Latgale fell to -1 C.

Forecasts show that in the coming days weather will be cooler in Latvia, there will be frost at night, and in the afternoons the temperature will mostly be around zero, but snowfall is not expected/ Long-term forecasts show that weather will become warmer over the end of the month.

Last year, the first snow in Latvia appeared on October 24, mostly in Vidzeme.
