Friday will get considerably warmer in Latvia

The double-digit negatives seem to be over for this week as temperature has risen Thursday night and will continue rising Friday, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology center.

The orange alert of ice has been announced throughout the country. The warning states that there will be a thaw or freezing rain in many parts of the country. Roads, streets and sidewalks will be slippery, and a layer of ice will be formed on the wires and tree branches: weight will rise significantly and there is a risk that they may break.

The temperature will gradually rise over the course of the day. By late evening the air will warm up to 0 C to +3 C A small frost will remain in the north-east of the country.
