Good chance of a warm and dry Midsummer festival

Rain is expected in some parts of Latvia during the first half of this week, but Līgo and Jāņi on the 23rd and 24th of June should pass without precipitation, according to the latest forecasts from the State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center.

On Monday it will be cloudy in some places, but clear in general. A slow wind will blow, and a few thunderstorms can be expected as temperatures increase. The air temperature during the day will be in the range + 16 Celsius to + 21 Celsius.

At the summer solstice on Tuesday, a new cyclone will approach Latvia from the south-east. The weather will be cloudy and precipitation is expected mainly in the east of the country, but in some places in other regions it will rain slightly. A slow to moderate north wind will blow, but in the east it will be gusty. The maximum air temperature will be in the range of + 15 C to + 20 C during the day, but on solstice night the air will cool to + 9 C to 13 C.

Atmospheric pressure in the country will rise on Wednesday and the day will pass without significant rainfall, with only light rain expected in the south-east. A slow to moderate north-westerly, westerly wind will blow. During the day the air temperature will be higher than before – the air will warm up to as much as + 23 C.

The Midsummer holidays will be warm and according to the latest forecasts, there is a very high probability, of them staying dry. The air temperature in most of the country on the holidays will reach from + 22 C to + 26 C, and even at night it will remain a pleasant + 12 C to + 16 C.

Of the last 56 Midsummer nights, only 8 were spent copletely without rain somewhere in Latvia, and the last such Midsummer nights were in 2019 and 2020.
