The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre has issued a yellow alert on heavy rain, but on Monday morning in east Zemgale, Sēlija, west Latgale, and most of Vidzeme, there will be an orange alert. In Rīga, there is a yellow alert with the amount of rainfall at 30 millimeters.
The amount of rainfall for places on the eastern side of the country is expected to exceed 50 millimeters, or 60% of the norm in August. Reduced visibility and flooding of roads will make driving difficult. Water levels will rise rapidly in some rivers. There may also be thunderstorms in the east of the country.
The air temperature will not exceed +17 C to +23 C on Monday. The week will continue to get warmer, on Thursday and Friday temperatures can climb to +30 C, but the weekend will again be cooler.
