It's getting colder in Latvia

On Monday, air temperature in Latvia will gradually decrease over the course of the day, and it will get colder this week, according to forecasts by the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center.

Monday will be mostly cloudy, and some snowfall is expected from place to place. Roads will be slippery. A moderate to moderately strong north, north-east wind will blow, reaching 15-17 meters per second (m/s) for coastal areas.

The maximum air temperature of -1 C to -6 C is expected on Monday morning and will gradually decrease by a few degrees over the course of the day.

Air temperatures at night will mostly be between -7 to -12 C, in the east of the country on Wednesday and Thursday morning it may fall down to -15 C to -20 C. During te daytime, temperatures will range between  -3 C and -5 C on the coast and from -10 C to -11 C in the east of the country.

At the beginning of the Christmas holiday, on December 24, the weather will get a little warmer, even a small thaw may be on the coast on Christmas Eve. Snowfall is also expected, giving hope for white Christmas.
