Temperatures early Friday morning hovered between +13 and +15 degrees Celsius, and are forecast to climb up to +15 and +20 during the day, reported LSM weatherman Toms Bricis.

Warm and wet is the prognosis for Friday, with rain expected throughout most of the land. Western Kurzeme and south-central Zemgale provinces will see scattered moderately heavy precipitation, while some parts of eastern Latgale could remain completely dry.

Despite mostly overcast skies, scattered sunshine will break through as slow to moderate south-southwesterly winds prevail.

Weekend temperatures are expected to begin dipping 2-3 degrees, bringing overnight lows to between +8 and +13 degrees, highs between +12 and +17.

While there is only a slight chance of scattered rain Saturday, it will increase by Sunday, bringing more widespread and moderate-to-high levels of moisture in the form of rain.

Forecasts for the beginning of next week call for very similar moist weather as temperatures continue to drop to their more seasonally chilling levels.

According to Global Forecast System extended reports, there is an increasing likelihood of Latvia encountering its first wet snowfall around October 16-17, when lows will fall to freezing from -2 to +3 degrees and highs only reaching between +3 and +9 degrees.
