A storm will come to Latvia on Monday, January 17, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center.

In Rīga and the vicinity, Jūrmala, and elsewhere on the coast the wind may be stronger than it was on Friday, according to forecasts.

Agrita Vītola, a spokeswoman for the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD), warned that the wind may carry various objects, and special precautions should be taken.

"It is desirable that residents stay indoors. If there is a need to go out, special caution should be exercised, since the strong wind can sometimes carry branches, different objects, or pieces of roofing. If there are any objects on the balcony that are not properly attached, it is advisable to bring them inside,” said the VUGD spokeswoman.

“Drivers must also be wary of traffic because the wind can fell trees or break branches. Make sure that the car is not parked near large trees."

The storm's climax is expected Monday in the middle of the day and afternoon. By Monday evening, it will begin to diminish.

It will be raining and snowing at night and morning throughout the country, but Monday evening, starting in the west, the weather will clear.
