Temperatures in north-east Vidzeme and Latgale regions dipped below freezing overnight and a thin blanket of snow was in place in many districts by morning.
However, with temperatures nudging into positive territory, it is dispersing, to be replaced by sleet and rain.
The unseasonal dusting is a reminder to motorists to ensure their vehicles are ready for coming months, as plenty more f the white stuff is sure to be on its way.
Speaking of roads, the organization responsible for safety on Latvia's notoriously dangerous highways, the CSDD, is currently running a campaign to warn people against the perils of aggressive driving.
Numerous sportsmen, politicians, celebrities and others are photographed saying they will "prove themselves" not on the highway, but in their own fields of expertise.
An example below is racing driver Reinis Nitiss who says he;ll prove himself "on the track" not on the road.

The CSDD is also reminding pedestrians to wear bright clothes and reflectors with the days drawing in.
