The last week of July will see hot weather continue to hold sway across the whole of Latvia, according to forecasters, with only the occasional thunderstorm to provide relief from the heatwave.

On Tuesday, clouds will increase, and in many places in the eastern and central parts of the country rain and thunderstorms might be expected, with the temperatures not too oppressive, in the range of +22 Celsius to + 28 C.

From Wednesday the air temperature will increase again, in the afternoons being + 25 C to + 30 C and by the weekend temperatures could reach as high as +33 C.

Nights will be sultry and humid with night-time temperatures of +15 C to +22 C.

Rainfall distribution will be uneven, and the risk of forest wildfires remains high, so the public are advised to take especial care if venturing into the forests. Western districts in particular will be susceptible to forest fires.

Similarly ultraviolet radiation in the middle of the day will be an issue, so take nevcessary precautions and avoid the midday sun.
