The previous record was 39 centimeters on December 5 in Sigulda. Last winter's thickest layer was 52 centimeters on January 31, 2021 in Ogresgals.
Elsewhere in North Vidzeme the snow is also thick, over 20 cm. At other observation stations in Vidzeme and Latgale, the thickness of the snow blanket is mainly 5-20 cm, in Zemgale and in Riga 5-10 cm, but in the majority of Kurzeme less than five centimeters.
