Orange warning in place over hot and stormy weather

Take note – story published 1 year ago

An orange weather warning is in place Wednesday and is likely to remain in force until Sunday, owing to ongoing very hot weather and the chance of violent storms.

The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center confirmed the warning, which means conditions are rated "dangerous", one step down from the top "very dangerous" rating. The warning extends across all Latvian territory.

According to forecasts many places will experience short-term rain and thunderstorms, sometimes with very heavy rain and hail.

The thermometer bar will rise as high as + 31 Celsius, slightly cooler along the coast. In the afternoon, the intensity of ultraviolet radiation in the sun will be medium to high, so be careful in direct sunlight.
