Scattered summer showers, then a dry weekend

Last week's weather pattern of sunny spells and rain showers is set to continue thru this week, according to the latest forecasts from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center (LVĢMC).

Rain can be expected in many places, though it will rarely be prolonged, and next weeked promises to have completely dry weather. Winds will be light to moderate and temperatures are expected to be comfortable.

At the beginning of the week, there will be variable cloud cover with only light rainfall in the eastern parts of the country. A slow westerly wind will prevail. Warm weather is expected during Monday, and the temperature will rise to from +22 Celsius to +26 C.

On Tuesday, conditions will remain stable until, in the middle of the day, a precipitation zone will cross Latvia from the west, the amount of cloud will increase, and it will rain briefly in many places, with heavy thunderstorms in some places. There will be a light to moderate southerly wind that will be gusty along the coast. The minimum air temperature during the day will reach a maximum of +27 C. 

Wednesday and Thursday will bring rain to many places. On Wednesday, a moderate south-westerly wind will blow, which will be gusty along the sea coast, but on Thursday it will turn from the north-west. Temperatures during the day will be notably cooler with the thermometer only rising to +17 C to +21 C.

Starting from Friday, the weather conditions will be determined by an anticyclone over the Baltic Sea. The sky will still be partly cloudy, but dry weather is expected. A slow, variable wind will prevail. At night, the temperature could drop as low as +9 C, while during the day it will rise to + 23 C.
