September set fair for a couple of weeks

Take note – story published 5 years ago

September may mark the start of fall to many, but summer weather will remain in Latvia and continue until about mid-September in most parts of the country, according to forecasts.

This working week will be accompanied by thunderstorms caused by raised temperatures. They will, as usual, be local, but more frequent rain and lightning are expected in Vidzeme and Latgale. Although every day in a part of Latvia it will rain, the days will mostly be sunny.

The air temperature in the afternoons will be for the most part +20 Celsius to + 25 C, in the middle and end of the week perhaps even a few degrees warmer. At night, the will air cools to +10 C to + 15 C, with places on the coast a little warmer.

Eastern winds will be light, there will be fog in many places overnight and in the mornings that will clear and give fine weather.

Long-term forecasts show that until mid-September the general weather situation in our region will not change significantly. The weather will be determined by a wide area of high pressure, and the eastern winds will dominate, with which warmer air will flow to us. The average temperature overnight throughout Latvia, with the exception of the Vidzeme highlands, will be steady above +15 C, thus meteorological summer will continue for a little longer regardless of the calendar.
