Snow, freezing temperatures expected this week

Take note – story published 7 years ago

After a brief announcement of its imminent arriva last week in the form of a few snow showers, winter is set to extend an icy welcome to Latvia this week, according to weather forecasters.

As well as fresh snowfalls, temperatures are expected to plunge to -10C at times, so it's an ideal time to make sure your winter preparations are in order.

Rain and sleet are expected for much of the day on Monday with the air temperature around the country just above zero.

On Monday night the skies will clear which means that while there'll be nothing falling from above, temperatures will fall to around -%C in inland areas.

Tuesday will be wet with rain, sleet and snow all expected, but temperatures in positive territory should ensure nothing settles on the ground.

It's a similar picture for Wednesday, and then temperatures will gradually drop on Thursday and Friday, bringing with them frost and the chance of snow flurries that will not immediately melt away. Inland areas could see temperatures as low as -10C.

Wrap up warm and remember to wear a reflector or two when walking at night!
