Snowfall will stop for the weekend to return next week

Snowfall is not expected during the weekend, but it will intensify again on Sunday evening, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center.

On Saturday, the sky will be partially cloudy, but on Sunday, there will be more clouds. A slow wind will blow. During the night the air temperatures will drop to -13 C, warmer on the coast. The days will be cold, with the air temperatures between -4 C and -9 C, slightly warmer in the north of Kurzeme. 

On the night to Monday, snow will return, with intense snowfall Monday and Tuesday. During the nights and days, the air temperature will be within the range of -2 C to -7 C. Blizzard is likely, with significant deterioration in visibility. There is also a very high probability that in certain areas of the country, mainly in the east of the country, there will be strong freezing rain.

Mostly cloudy weather is expected in the other half of the next working week, with occasional snowfall. In some places in Latvia, the snow layer will be nearing half a meter. Air temperatures will mostly hold within the range of -2 C to -7 C.
