Warm air systems are forecast to move into the country on the weekend after a somewhat rainy week characteristic of springtime, reports LSM's Latvian-language.

Temperatures of +11..+15C are expected in the coastal regions and +16..+20C in the rest of the country until the weekend, which should see temperatures rise to a balmy weather characteristic of summer.

Showers are expected every day, especially in the eastern regions of the country, while the coastline will mostly be dry and sunny throughout the week.

Thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected on May 4, a public holiday marking the restoration of independence of Latvia.

On the weekend hot air will start moving into the country and temperatures should reach +25C next week with thunderstorms forecast for the second week of May.
