Storm watch: Dennis menaces Europe

Take note – story published 4 years ago

The storm nearing Europe has been named Storm Dennis by the United Kingdom meteorological service, and according to LSM.lv weatherman Toms Bricis on February 12, the storm could pick up strength as it reaches the Baltic Sea region.

Storm Dennis is currently still at the shores of Canada, but weather predictions show it will hit the British isles on Saturday. For Britain the storm will be less powerful than last week, but afterwards the storm could develop further.

“But why am I paying this so much attention? Because there are concerns that this storm could affect Latvia much more powerfully,” sadi Bricis.

The current predictions are still subject to change and there is no longer the expectation that there will be a huge storm, but the weatherman urges everyone to follow weather updates throughout Friday and Saturday. The cyclone is set to reach Latvia on Sunday, when the country will experience strong winds through Monday morning, especially in the Kurzeme and Vidzeme regions.

However Bricis stresses that these are only the first warnings, so take everything with a pinch of salt. Watch his video below to see the European cyclone wind map and the wind predictions map for Latvia:
