The south-west wind will rise Wednesday evening, in gusts over 20 meters per second (m/s), subsiding Thursday morning. Between Thursday and Friday evening, the south-west, west winds across the country will reach 15-20 m/s in gusts, in places up to 24 m/s, while on the coast in Kurzeme and Vidzeme up to 25-28 m/s.
The winds will cause damage, trees and branches can fall, light structures can be broken. Traffic and power supply can be disrupted.
Over the weekend the wind will subside but it will get cooler, with possible wet snow.
